So I take it you have a double jointed thumb? Sorry but I just cannot agree that this is a better design. I do not think that this design is more intuitive than the BMW/Harley system. I'm not saying there's a right system or a wrong system but.... Just because everyone else does it, does not mean it's right. --------------------------------- MSF RiderCoach IBA (SS/BB)

I like Harley's system with separate left/right switches. BMW's new design could be clumsy to operate with heavy gloves.

My order of preference is: 1) HD setup (simple, easy to use with gloves) 2) BMW 3 button (easy to use with gloves, but one switch too many) 3) Conventional (not so easy to use with gloves, doesn't autocancel??) And hence I'll repost my question here from the other post: "Does the conventional single blinker switch mean the signals won't autocancel? Are there any single switch bikes out there with auto canceling blinkers?" Robo

Hooray for the new turnsignal design! When using winter gloves I'll occasionally beep to turn left or hit the right blinker when attempting to manually cancel on my BMW. I've never had problems like that on a bike with the single switch system. Even the HD system was better than the BMW 3 switch setup. I hope they offer a retrofit kit for my R1200R. Kevin

Alas. Yet another slide towards the masses . . . I like the traditional beemer 3-switch setup precisely because it was different. Who the f wants to be just like everybody else? C

Hooray! With the new K1300, BMW has finally changed its over-engineered turn signal switches. Coming from quite a few Japanese motorcycles and even a 1990 BMW R100 GS that had the "so-called" normal turn signal switch, I never had a problem with them...even now when I am switching back and forth between my GS Adventures and a KLR 650. But then I also think its easy to roll an aircraft all the way down the runway on one wheel when I'm practicing my cross-wind landings. That takes coordination! --------------------------------- All the best, Alex

perhaps more to the point, I just now have gotten after a year or more , used to the BMW style and retrained my pea brain to not think Japanese and they are going to change them?
For months I was running around with turn signals going which is so dangerous . Now I have a new bike that cancels and I remember when turning to turn them off and when I want flashing lights to just press both at the same time. Now that is about as logical as it can get.
I rode a Triumph the other day and kept blowing the horn trying to give a left turn signal. LOL

I find the BMW 3 button system to be intuitive and easy to use. I've had more difficulty with 1 button systems and gloves. But eventually I get the hang of them. The 3 button system seems to require less thought though. When in Rome, do as Ducati does. Jack --------------------------------- "There ain't no Devil, there's just God when he's drunk." -- T. Waits

It is not possible to agree more. Also, it's my understanding that Ducati sells a most robust and sturdy tee-shirt. C
