I know where you live.... literally and metaphorically. I will stay in touch.

Merrill,

Look to your front door.

It's more than a little possible that before the earth sees another orbit, you'll see these eyes looking in.

We won't actually knock on your door or anything . . .

We'll just stand on your porch, looking in.

Because we each and we all are going to miss the looking in, my friend.

Just had to give Merrill a call... to hear his voice... to be assured that nothing threatening had reared its ugly head..... and hung the phone up after a laugh and a smile and knowing once again that Merrill is a kind soul...

but I'm gonna miss his wonderful voice.   sad

And, he did make me promise to never go 150mph again and I said I promise (except if I'm crossing Montana to see him!).

I'm glad I met you Merrill...I'm glad I know you....applause

Merrill,

Being the wordsmith that you are, I know you told us precisely what you wished to say.  So I'll stand back, wish you well, and just remind you there will always be a home for you among these souls. My greatest delight about rediscovering this motorcycle thing has been the people who have come into my life via this board.  You have been in our hearts, and always will be, among friends.  All the best.

Invariably I come here.  I cannot help myself.  Usually I read posts that bring into sharp focus that I am a shallow and silly soul.  Those posts are not meant to point out anyone's foolishness; I do not take them so.  However, those thoughtful posts assure me that I can go on being me, the big goose that I am.  Others, like merrill, are doing the heavy lifting of thinking.

Damn, I'm gonna miss you, merrill.

laissez le bon temps rouler.

Partakers of
that something worth
remembering.

Beginnings and endings.
Each day is filled with them, and many go by unnoticed.
But some....
...some cause us to reflect on what gives meaning to our lives.
It brings both sorrow and joy to see a friend embark on a new journey that leads away from us.
Live well my friend.
