I do not want to start a political mud sling, I just wanted to share my experience:

I attended the Obama/Clinton rally in Orlando yesterday. There was no fear or anger from the crowed. The air was filled with hope and a wish for a better future. The rally was diverse and courteous with young, middle aged and seniors many of whom looked like their hopes had finally been realized ( a sense of pride that was very touching).   40- 50 thousand people in Orlando is HUGE.

It was good to FINALLY hears something positive...

AMEN!

If the negative stuff stops working, perhaps we'll stop seeing so much of it.

[soapbox]

Thanks for the report, Em.  If I could have, I would have been standing beside you--all misty-eyed.

Though I'm only a tiny blue spot in a blood red state, I'll have no regrets at all casting my vote against the local political current in two short weeks.  My first vote was for Ronald Reagan, and in all these years I've never been more enthusiastic about my choice as I am this go-round.

And the bitter and misguided hate speech at some rallies just makes me all the more sure I'm on the right side this time.  (that would be "right" as in "correct" as opposed to "wing")

There was a time I felt as you do.  It was the 1972 Presidential Election.  The man who could have changed our destiny as a nation was defeated by a poser.  Later, the poser resigned in disgrace.   I wonder how differerent the world and our nation would be now if George McGovern had been elected back then.  We have a new opportunity.  I hope we make the best of it.

Thanks for sharing, Monzaman.  I'm going pheasant hunting this weekend, like I did last weekend.  Next weekend is the opener of deer season, and I have three tags to fill.  Want to call me a liberal pussy?  I've got a piece of the pie that I've worked hard to get.  Maybe you enjoy bailing out the bastards who mismanaged corporations, leaving unfathomable debt for our kids and grandchildren.  I don't.  And unless you're one of those guys who abused our trust in the name of personal greed, you must have lost thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) in the past month.  Who was in charge?  In case you missed it, the DOW closed a -500 today.

AHh... Guys,

Remember that any discussion of politics, religion etc. are expressly forbidden on our sight and to not hurt anyones feelings, be it known that our moderator "Shiva", will delete our discussions because thats the rules. We have had thing like this happen before to alot of us butting heads with him and placing our use of the forum in jeopardy...

So not to get anyone angry when he stikes be it known!!... Other forums have a"Yo Momma" section where anything goes but unfortunately not here. So We'd hate to loose anyone from the friendly discussions of most anything else suddenly be warned and then banned from our family here.

Yes we are having hard times and yes we have more in common that divides us, So be respectful of others political views and lets just leave it at that....Who ever gets to be president we will survive and we will find solace in riding our common passion......BMW's [and a few other stray brands]

So before it gets out of hand please consider the moderators powers! Thanx

You're right, JC.  My apologies to all concerned.  Guess I got caught up in memories of my idealistic youth. This forum is for riders and riding, not politics.

Just remember that if and when we get hostile with each other here, it is like fighting with your wife and kids, WE BE ALL FAMILY HERE !!

So just be cool and continue, I think HE [Shiva] is taking a nap !!!......

Wow, you'd think I defaced his yard sign. Hunt all you want while you can and no I see little point in calling you names. I believe you are entitled to your point of view, wrongheaded as I believe it to be.   I lost some in the market, but I did move some out 4 months back as soon as the capital gain increase started to look likely thinking that would make it drop. The market will recover if left on its own and I'll be patient. No, I don't enjoy bailing them out and don't think it should be done. It is rather amusing though watching both candidates trip over each other to not only make it happen but expand it. As far as blame you may not have noticed but George, Nancy and Harry are all running things and have been for some time. Moe, Curly and Larry. Its popular to blame the party with the presidency at the time of a downturn however the old adage "be careful what you wish for, you may get it" fits the present situation quite well. Oh, and before you get the idea I'm wealthy financeer you can call me "Jim the Toolmaker". Good luck hunting.
