Favorite Aux Lights ??

Have you got a favorite brand - model - style you'd care to tell me about and evaluate the cost vs effectiveness / durability-maintenance / ease of installation?

I'm concsidering adding some lights to the '05 LT that I've started to ride because it seems so dim as compared to the '02 RT with Moto-Lites I've been riding. Mind you the '02 RT in stock configuration already has the pair of (fog?? recognition??) lights on either side of the headlight, and then the additional Moto's are mounted about axel height on either side of the front fork, ...maybe lighting doesn't get any better than that! I replace a Moto bulb now & then but considering I run with them on all the time, I figure it's woth it for the extra safety in recognition and hopefully deer strike prevention.

I'd like to have a setup on the LT like on the RT, because as long as I stay on low beam with the main headlight, then blinding of oncomming traffic is no problem, I suppose because all the lights are mounted and aimed so low.

I'd guess a set of Moto's or PIAA's would set me back about $500. Are there any other possibilities I should look into that won't over drain my electrical system or pocket book?  Thanks, RW

I have a set of Hella FF50 driving lights on each of my GS Adventures.

For the price, they are hard to beat and a very popular choice with riders. I paid about $60 for one set and $30 when Cabela's happened to have them.

They light up the road very well. Lighting up the road where I won't be for another minute is quite pointless and only annoys oncoming drivers. I did't need the "let me impress you with my lights" effect. I looked at PIAAs but they were grossly overpriced for lighting that I wouldn't need.

I had a set of Hella's inside my fairing on my GT and for the $$$$ did everything the overprised Piaa's did. It's hard to figure out the price extremes of the different brands when your talkin' halogens, now HID's are going to be higher.

Just last months MCN [motorcycle consumer news] did an article on aux. lights and a $100 brand did better than the Piaa's !!!...
